I had been through 12 step programs before, but this time, I knew my higher power was Jesus Christ, not some unseen thing I had to trust. At CR, I was encouraged to walk the steps, grow in my relationship with Jesus and with other women in the group. I work on many issues, including trust and self-esteem. I realized some of the mistakes I had made in my relationships from the past and it is helping me in my current relationship. I will not say that everything is fixed, but we are now gaining the tools through CR to work through our issues. Elizabeth |
| It seems I’ve struggled with addiction to one thing or another, all of my life. Cocaine, speed, and any kind of prescription pill or drug that I can get my hands on. In those days, I also struggled with addiction to men … desperate for someone to love me … to the point of almost destroying myself to get it. I hit my bottom about six years ago and started attending Liberty Community Church. For the fist 3 years, there was no Celebrate Recovery — so I feel like God attended to things himself through the love and support of my family at Liberty. The “bad stuff” was taken away pretty quickly … but I still struggle with dealing with a lifetime of addictive behaviors and patterns. Food and nicotine have been my medication for a long time. While it is not over … I can see the light at the end of the tunnel. Little by little and step by step … God is using the Celebrate Recovery program to do the work that was long overdue … working from the inside out. Stacey |
